History

Happy Days Nyon

The idea came to me during my many trips to Uncle Sam’s country. A gourmet with a passion for discovering new flavors, I was amazed by the diversity of breakfast dishes. I quickly developed a real preference for the famous American pancake, emblematic of the retro dinners I was so fond of.

After several unsuccessful attempts to reproduce them in my kitchen, I was beginning to despair. But in 2008, I made a decision: to open a friendly place between Geneva and Lausanne where you could enjoy real breakfasts, like nowhere else in French-speaking Switzerland.

So I spent two months in California to perfect my English and discover the secrets of some of America’s most emblematic restaurants. My aim was to understand their spirit, their warm welcome and their passion for homemade food.

With the secret of the real pancake in my pocket, I returned to Nyon with my head full of images of my future retro restaurant. I imagined a place where people could rediscover the ambiance of the 50s, enjoy homemade burgers, golden pancakes and creamy milkshakes in a unique atmosphere.

This is how Happy Days Diner was born, a restaurant in Nyon with a fifties décor never seen before in French-speaking Switzerland. Today, it’s a must for lovers of authentic cuisine, quality burgers and simple pleasures shared around a table.

Over the years, the Happy Days Diner has become a reference point in Nyon for its homemade burgers and retro fifties atmosphere.
The growing success of our artisanal burgers, prepared with quality local meat, led us to reorganize our kitchen and our team to meet the ever-increasing demand.

For organizational reasons, and in order to guarantee the best experience for our customers, we have chosen to focus on our burgers, while continuing to bring to life the spirit of the American breakfast that has made our reputation.

Today, even though our main menu focuses on homemade burgers, we keep a nod to our beginnings: every last Sunday of the month, we offer a special breakfast with pancakes, eggs, bacon and all-you-can-eat coffee – a way of recapturing the ambiance of the California mornings that inspired the creation of Happy Days Diner.
